Maramures Country is one of the largest depression of the Carpathian chain, with an area of approximately 10,000 km² and a wide range of sights which worth visiting.
The Merry Cemetery
This cemetery is located in Sapanta, from Maramures County and it is famous because is the only cemetery in Romania where on the monuments and on the crosses made for the dead people you can find funny texts, often written in lyrics.
This lake is unique in Europe because of the color that changes constantly and was founded in 1920 by the collapse of an old mine. The Blue Lake is located with just two kilometers away from Baia Sprie and was declared a nature reserve in 1977 and it is in the custody of Maramures Mountains Nature Park Administration.
Horses’ Waterfall is located in the N-E of Rodnei Mountains, near the touristic resort of Borsa. The water of this waterfall is the result of the melting snow and the rainfall that collects in a glacial circle and from there it goes on the steep slope of Piatra Rea Reservation and it is rolled down forming a multistage cascade with successive falls of 40m, then of 20m and again of 40 m.
